Epimediums Epimediums make a fine slow-spreading groundcover, excellent for shade under trees where few other plants will perform.
Evergreen to semi-evergreen, leaves often emerge in bright colors in the spring, turn green for the season, and then color up again for
the fall. In spring short sprays of star-like flowers appear in various colors. They like fertile soil, often tolerate drier conditions and
most are hardy to Zone 5. With the opening of China to Western exploration many new species are finding their way to the US. We
are offering several new ones again this year and will have many more to come in the future once quantities become sufficient.
Plants listed with a “Cc” number have been acquired from Darrell Probst of Garden Vision, who is the American expert on
Epimedium, and identify a particular clone that he has identified and propagated. Although we list most Epimediums as Zone 5
we’ve heard many success stories with the plant in harsher climates…a good mulch may be the answer..
